The European Study Centre was established in December 1996 by the Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences as a separate branch of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics.

European integration is a great challenge to Hungarian economy and society. Its effect on the future development of agricultural sectors and rural areas is particularly significant. An indispensable element of successful access to the EU market is the full knowledge and professional application of the highly sophisticated structure and institutions of EU common policy and, within this framework, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). "Euro-knowledge" is a very important element of preparation for access to the EU, and after entering the EU system, this requirement will become one of the elementary operating conditions.
