Game management and Fishery
Stock numbers of fallow-deer, wild-boar and mufflon
are carefully managed (table 12). With the development of
habitats, the number of natural populations of small games should increase (diagrams 26-27).
In order to introduce new management measures in hunting, the 1996
LV Act on the protection, management and hunting of game, created County Hunting
Authorities . These controlling oorganisations belong to the county agricultural
authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This way the two-level
system of hunting management was strengthened and the controls have improved.
The Hungarian fishery is divided into pond fishery and fish
management on natural waters. There are 140 thousand hectares of natural waters and 20
thousand hectares of fish ponds. On natural waters, fishing can be either for commercial,
or for recreational purposes. Fish ponds are used for the production of commercial fish
and young fish for the maintenance of fish colonies in natural waters (table 13).
